About Us

We are a congregation of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church which was born in 1810. We believe and sing aloud an invitation "Whosoever Will" come. Believers who seek to know and do the will of God, and who live in Him as He lives in them, may in this life know the assurance of salvation through Jesus Christ. (Ro 5:1-5, 1 Ti 1:11-12, 1 Jn 2:3-6, 5:13) The church is universal and her Head is one: Universal because God's act of salvation in Jesus Christ is universal. One with one head because the universal church's Lord, Jesus Christ, is one. The Christian Church (world wide, all inclusive) is the working body of Christ sanctified to carry on the continuing mission of the ministry of Jesus Christ. (Mt 16:18, 28:18-20, Eph 4:15-16, Col 1:18-20, Jn 17:17-23, Mt 8:11, Jn 3:16, Gal 3:28, Rev 7:9-10)

God's words and actions in creation, providence, judgment, and redemption are witnessed by the covenant community. These testimonies are gifted us through the Old and New Testaments. (Gn 1-3, 6-8, 11:1-9, Ex 1:19, Acts 7, Ro 4, Gal 3:6-14, Eph 1:3-14) God inspired persons of the covenant community to write the scriptures. In and through the scriptures God speaks about creation, sin, judgment, salvation, the church and the growth of believers. The scriptures are the infallible rule of faith and practice, the authoritative guide for Christian living and should be understood in the light of the birth, life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. All understanding of scripture is made possible with an illuminating by God's own Spirit. (Ex 24;3-4, Dt 31:9-13, 2 Ti 3:14-17, Eph 4:11-16, 2 Pet 1:19-21, 3:18)
